This certain trend as been one to come in and out of style for the last few years. The question surrounding it is, are they still fashionable or are they labeled basic now? I believe that it all depends on how you style is. Yes you may be called basic for pairing a plain tube top with your classic American Eagle jean shorts and Birkenstocks. However, you can always take your outfit to the next level.

I took two of my basic tube tops that I’ve been hesitant to wear just like some of you may be. I searched through my closet to see what I could do to give these tops some spice and let me just say it does not take much! Depending on the look you are going for you can do so much with a tube top to make it unique.

CASUAL LOOK

For the first outfit I made a casual denim look with a jean skirt and jean jacket. This is an outfit I would totally wear all through spring and summer and is perfect for lunch with friends or a night at the fair. You can add or change anything to make it unique to you which I love.

FANCY LOOK

For the second look I got a little more fancy and added a fluffy white coat from TJ Maxx. I wore this adorable striped tube top form American Eagle that I’ve had for a few years but I wanted to prove that tube tops can still be trendy as long as you style it correctly. I spiced up the look by adding hot pink tassel earrings from Shein to match with the pink stripes on the tube top. I loved the way this looks and it adds a lot of volume to the outfit. This can be worn for a more fancy dinner or if you are dressing up to hang out with you friends.

CONCLUSION

My final verdict for the burning question: “Are tube tops in or out?” I say in. It really all depends what you wear with it to make it less basic. My casual outfit will probably not be a go to, however if I can’t find anything else to wear, I don’t feel like I’ll be called basic for throwing that outfit on. As for the second, more fancy look, I definitely would wear this for a dinner with the girls. The coat and earrings add so much to the outfit so I would not be afraid to wear a tube top out. Tube tops may not be the #1 summer trend like they were a few years back, but you can always make an outfit your own no matter what it is.
