Hello everyone and welcome to Megan’s last minute summer preparations. I know what you’re thinking, it’s June! Yes well, with everything going on in these last few months it’s been hard to focus on the future when there is so much happening in the present. So, with that being said I want to address that I didn’t post a fashion related blog post on Friday because I felt it wasn’t the right time to talk about fashion with all that is going on. I’ve been spending the last week or so listening, reading, and educating myself and becoming more and more aware of the recent events and how to make a change. I wanted to say that although some people may not be as active as others on social media platforms, there is always change being done behind the scenes you may not know about. Donations are being made, petitions are being signed, and people are talking and educating others. I hope June brings in more change and positivity and 2020 takes a turn for the better. Now that Summer is here, I’m going to talk about different ways to prepare for summer 2020.
- School’s out, What Next?
Alright, I’m going to start off with something that needs to happen even with school being out. Education. Even with summer starting and no more school work, we all need to continue learning, reading, and watching to educate ourselves about different aspects of life, especially things we may not learn in school. Whether you are in middle/high school and you want to learn more about a specialized topic or career, in college wanting to branch outside of your major, or still working and want to educate yourself on something completely different. It is so important for us to continue learning even when we aren’t in a classroom, especially in times like these. For me, I started a fashion business online course to help me learn more about the fashion industry.
2. Summer Body
I have definitely been lacking in the workout department in quarantine and at first I was feeling super unmotivated. However, once I discovered the right workouts I became so much more productive. For me, it was all about the length since I hated working out for a long amount of time and because I was aiming for a six pack so late and didn’t have much time before I hit the beach lol. So, I started looking for quick ab, cardio, and butt workouts that were between 5-15 minutes. A few of my favorites are ATHLEAN-X 7 minute ab workout, Madfit 15 minute dance party workout, and Pamela Reif’s 10 minute booty burn. I totally recommend these workouts because they are quick and get you sweating FAST. Trust me, your ideal summer bod is closer than you think!
3. Summer Clothing
A classic! Jeans and a tank, seriously it sounds basic but you can’t go wrong. My go-to stores for jeans are H&M, American Eagle, and Old Navy. However, I’m trying to branch out this summer and try some new stores and unique pairs of jeans that aren’t your basic ripped mom jeans (pictured) – even though they’re amazing! From left to right in pictures- I shop for my tanks at Forever 21 (fun and cheap tanks), Francesca’s (pricier but great quality), and Forever 21 (fun and cheap tanks), and Urban Outfitters (great for basic tanks).
I’m definitely one to dress up when it’s not necessary so here is my favorite dress and romper for summer 2020. I’m sure this will change within a week because I’m totally obsessed with dresses, jumpsuits, and rompers but I wanted to share them with you! I picked up the dress at Kohl’s which has always been one of my favorite department stores. It’s perfect for summer weddings and lunch with friends and it can be dressed up or down which you all know is my favorite part about styling a piece. The romper is from Shein (they always have THE cutest rompers) and I love the pattern on this piece, very summer!
Mixing up some shirts and skirts!! One of the ways I keep my outfits unique yet re-wearable is mixing up my tops and bottoms. For summer, my two favorite skirts pictured here are both from Shein. I love how these pieces are basic enough to match with everything, but can also be super unique.
As for SWIMSUITS, I recently placed an order with Shein for a few new bikinis that I cannot wait to try on and talk about. This is definitely a key step in preparing for summer and as you can see, I am doing it super last minute, but it is never too late! So if you are looking for affordable and fashionable swimsuits, I’ve been getting them at Shein since last year and I love them!
4. Other necessities!
Another thing I want to talk about is TANNING! If you’re like me, you love laying out in the sun, reading a book, or even getting a nice nap in! I’ve been using the Sun Bum browning lotion that I mentioned in my May Favorites blog post last week. However, many tanning oils and lotions can work the same, that’s why I recommend a decently priced lotion like Sun Bum rather than the tik tok recommended Maui Babe that’s on the pricer side.
Lastly, I have one last suggestion to make your summer memories last forever and that is the David’s Disposable app. I’ve been using this app for a few months now and I’m obsessed. I was going to try out disposable camera soon but I realized this app pretty much does the same thing and I just print them using my Groovebook app. Here’s a few pictures I’ve taken with the app so far and I love the way they turned out!!
I hope these summer months are filled with positivity, peace, and change, and I hope all of you have an amazing summer!
xoxo, megs
