Color Combonations

I loved messing around with monochrome outfits on the blog last month, so I figured color combos would be just as fun. The three combos I chose were lavender and blue, red and black, and yellow and green.

  1. Lavender and Blue

These light, pastel colors ended up looking pretty good together. I was a little nervous because these two colors are so close on the color wheel. However, since the colors were so light they weren’t too overwhelming. I also normally pair loose pants with a tight shirt but the lavender flowy tank really surprised me. This look is definitely a beachy outfit which I love.

I also wanted to talk about the back of this Francesca’s top. I’m all for an open back and with the right pants this top looks phenomenal. It opens up just enough to have that open back style but it still gives off a very classy vibe.

2. Red and Black

This one might be a classic, but I always love how red and black looks turn out. Black monochrome looks have also been a fav of mine so this red top from Express adds the perfect pop of color. If you’re looking for a dressed down style with this color combo, I would suggest some distressed black jeans and a red t-shirt, and to dress it up, a little black dress and some red heels. That pop of red always adds so much more than you think and that’s why I love this color combination.

3. Yellow and Green

This was a combo I was pleasantly surprised with. These green pants look more on the grey side on camera but they are a very dusty olive green off camera. I really liked the way the yellow crop top looked with it as well. It captured the baggy pants, tight crop look that I normally go for. I got the pants from the thrift store and usually I pair them with an edgy look. However when I added black heels instead of white chunky sneaks, I ended up being a fan of dressing this look up. Overall, I can say I’ll be pairing these colors more often now that I’ve seen what it can turn out to be.

I hope you all got some insight on new ways to pair your favorite clothing items and make your outfits more unique. I love experimenting with monochrome, combos, and other types of ways to play around with the colors of an outfit. What’s your favorite color combo?
