3 Effortlessly Edgy Outfits

Stepping out of your comfort zone can be tricky, especially if you’re used to a specific style. For today’s blog post, I styled three “edgy” outfits that all have a basic clothing item that everyone should own at the root of the outfit (black sweats, denim, and a black romper/dress). In order to add some spice, I added edgy accessories and fun shoes to make the outfit unique.

  1. CLASSIC EDGE

This first outfit is what I like to call your classic edgy outfit. Pretty basic but it’s still super cute. The basic root of the outfit is a pair of black sweatpants and an oversized tee. By itself, one may say it’s plain, but if you accessorize correctly you can make this outfit effortlessly edgy.

ACCESSORIES

First let’s start with sunglasses, the classic cat-eye style is my go to, especially with edgier outfits. They can be found anywhere and I swear they make me look so much cooler. Next, a black minimalistic bag to match the sunglasses. This is one of my favorite bags to style with because it goes with everything.

Now onto jewelry! For this look, I went with gold but it really depends on the outfit if you’re gonna use silver, gold, or mix metals. This layered chain necklace is perfect for edgy outfits and the small gold hoops are an essential for ANY outfit, they’re my fav. I also really wanted to style my New Balance sneakers and they happened to fit so well into this outfit.

2. VINTAGE EDGE

This is what I’m calling “Vintage Edge”. The basic clothing item in this outfit is denim. Everyone’s got a pair of denim jeans, wether it’s a skirt, pants, or shorts, or it’s blue, black, or white. The idea I planned went best with a black denim skirt, so I started with that. For this look, any funky top goes perfect. I was completely obsessed with this fun strapless top but I was questioning how I wanted to style it. Once I found the perfect shoes and accessories I knew this look would be amazing.

ACCESSORIES

To accessorize this look, I first went straight in with some statement earrings. These sparkly hoops were a perfect fit and since they draw so much attention, I didn’t even need to add a necklace. Next, the most adorable maroon purse I stole from my mom’s closet! It gave off this super vintage vibe that matched so well with this look. This not so basic purse adds so much spice to this outfit and a pop of color with this black monochrome look. Lastly, the shoes! These flip flops with a little bit of height reminded me so much of 00’s fashion so they were a must with this look.

3. DRESSY EDGE

This outfit is honestly may not be considered “edgy” but what I love about the look is with different accessories it could be girly, edgy, or whatever your heart desires. The root of this outfit was a basic black romper, however you could start this dressier outfit with a little black dress as well (which everyone should have as a closet essential).

ACCESSORIES

As far as accessories go, I added some lighting bolt earrings and the classic gold chains to spice it up and add the edge this outfit needed. Mixing and matching jewelry to maintain a specific vibe is one of my favorite parts of styling a look so this is wear the “dressy edge” vibe comes in haha. As for shoes, I kept that gold accent going and threw on the cutest gold heels.

I hope you all were inspired to step out of your comfort zone this week and experiment with some different styles. Just know, no matter how basic you think your outfit is, accessories come in quite handy to make the look your own.

xoxo, megs
