How To: Style A Basic White Tee

I asked you guys on my Instagram what you would like to see on the blog and I got a few requests for closet essentials/basics. I figured I would take one of my must have basics and show you how I style them. Outfit essentials like black sweats, a little black dress, or in this case a white tee, can be pretty boring if you wear them plain. So, I want to start a series where I can take my closet essentials and show you how to take them to the next level. For today’s blog post, I’m showing you how to take a classic white tee and style it in four different ways.

  1. Model Off Duty

This was by far my favorite outfit using a white tee, so I had to share it first. I got a lot of inspiration for this outfit and a few others from @mishhli on TikTok. This definitely gives me Kendall Jenner street style vibes. Adding to the white tee, I paired my new favorite wide-pant jeans from Wild Fable. I loved the way these jeans looked with the white tee and maroon jacket. For accessories, I added my go to black sunglasses and bag of course. I’m obsessed with how this outfit turned out, probably because it’s definitely my personal style.

2. Cheetah Girl

For this look, I paired the white tee with a cheetah skirt from American Eagle. Without accessories, this outfit could be called basic or boring, but I added my favorite star earrings and a cheetah hair scarf to add some spice. This is a perfect example of how accessories can change the entire perspective of an outfit. Especially when they match with your skirt ๐Ÿ˜‰

3. 90’s sporty

For this sporty look, there was definitely some decade inspiration from the 90s. Even though the white top isn’t as visible, layering the pink Champion crewneck gave this outfit some volume. I also had to pair my New Balance sneakers and gold chains to add to the 90’s vibe. Even though an outfit like this is something I would feel more comfortable strutting in a place like NYC, I love stepping out of the box and trying out new trends even in my small town.

4. Trendy Grandma

The last outfit was inspired by the lingerie as outerwear trend. I layered the green top over the white tee and paired a plaid skirt to create the “trendy grandma” look. You could also wear an old nightgown with a cardigan to create the same effect. This outfit was another favorite of mine because it appeals to my style.

Out of all four outfits, which appealed to your personal style? Do you like just keeping it basic with a white tee and jeans, or do you like to spice it up? If you like seeing me style basics/outfit essentials, leave a like, comment, or let me know through my Instagram (@themissmegs)!
