The Importance Of Accessories

Accessorizing is the key to any great outfit. Even the most boring and plain outfits can become trendy and unique once you add jewelry, a belt, or hat. Accessories show off your personal style and help you stand out in a room full of fashionable people. That’s why they’re my favorite part of styling an outfit! So, if you’re not sure where to start, I styled three outfits (sweats, casual, and dressy) to help give you a few ideas on how to start accessorizing.

1. CHIC SWEATS

If you know me, then you know this first look is right up my alley. Edgy/chic street style is one of my favorite styles and one of the best examples I can give you to accessorizing. If you start out with just a basic pair of sweats/joggers and a graphic/cropped tee, you have a very wide range of accessories you could style with.

BAGS:

The reason I love bags is because they have more than one use! You obviously can use it to store essentials, makeup products, or anything else you might need, but while using it you look SO fab. I love this vintage purse I found in my mom’s closet and it totally spices up this entire look.

SUNNIES:

Sunglasses are another accessory that have a traditional use (to cover your eyes from the harsh sun) BUT they also make outfits so trendy. Tiny sunnies have been in trend for a while now so I had to include them in this edgy look.

2. CASUALLY CUTE

Ripped jeans are a closet essential for everyone, but what can make you stand out in them? Heels and jeans are one of my favorite combos at the moment so I totally suggest trying this duo out if you haven’t already.

JEWLERY:

Statement earrings are one of my favorite ways to accessorize so I decided to try out a statement necklace! This silver lightning bolt necklace from Shop Hailey Kaae is my new obsession. It adds just enough spice but doesn’t overpower your outfit.

HEADBANDS:

Hair accessories are another way to add more to your look and for this outfit I used a white headband. All you have to do is throw it on, pull out a few baby strands and boom, you already made your outfit cuter.

3. DRESSY

For the last look, I wanted to style a outfit on the dressier side for all you skirts & dress lovers. I want to emphasize that if you don’t like a lot of jewelry that weighs you down, that doesn’t mean you can’t accessorize! For this look I used some basic gold hoops and a dainty necklace.

The key accessory for this outfit was a hair scarf that matched my cheetah skirt. When accessorizing, it’s not about how much jewelry you can wear, it’s about what jewelry fits that outfit. In this case, statement jewelry wasn’t a good fit for this look, instead I went light on the jewelry and added a hair accessory instead.

The best part about accessorizing is that is allows you to rewear outfits in different ways. Not everyone has the wallet for brand new outfits every day, so when you need to rewear those jeans for the 100th time, you will know how to accessorize and stay stylish!

xoxo, megs
