How To Style: Turtlenecks

With fall in full swing, it’s time to start learning how to style some new fall looks, but why not use some basics to help? Turtlenecks are always a big trend in the fall but sometimes it can be hard to pull them off. A lot of people will say they’re not a fan of turtlenecks but if you know how to style them, you might just realize what you’ve been missing. A lot of you asked how to style outfits for fall, trends for fall, and I even got a request for what to wear underneath dresses/t-shirts, etc and this post is perfect for that!

1. CLASSIC TURTLENECK

I wanted to start off the blog post with just a classic outfit styling a turtleneck, no layering. So here is a really easy way to take that turtleneck that’s been in the back of your closet!! These brown pants are PERFECT for fall so I paired them with a white fuzzy turtleneck and these fun shoes from Target.

To accessorize I added a black shoulder bag and my favorite statement hoops at the moment from Shop Hailey Kaae. This outfit screams fall and I think it would be perfect for your favorite fall activities like spending the day at the pumpkin patch or apple picking.

2. T-SHIRT AND TURTLENECK COMBO

I wore a very similar outfit on the blog not too long ago when I was talking about the importance of accessories, however to spice it up for fall, I added a striped turtleneck underneath! That’s the best part about fashion, re-wearing outfits isn’t as scary as it seems, and they’re super easy to switch up!

I also want to emphasize how COMFY this outfit was! Seriously this outfit is perfect for online school because you’re just throwing on sweats and a cute top. I was so obsessed with this look I wore it out to run errands yesterday. Layering a turtle neck with a graphic tee is such a good way to practice layering and it takes any basic outfit from a 6 to a 10.

3. SWEATSHIRT AND TURTLENECK COMBO

This last look is by far my favorite and one of my all time favorite outfits I’ve posted on the blog. Yes, before you ask this was heavily inspired by the iconic Emma Chamberlain, she is definitely bringing back yoga pants which I’m totally here for. For this outfit, I paired basic black yoga pants with a light blue turtleneck and my chunky UNC sweatshirt. I loved how the blue in my turtleneck, sweatshirt, and shoes all matched!

I think the white headband also adds so much to this look, it really pulls everything together and makes the outfit look so effortless. This is another outfit I will be wearing to online classes and definitely would be wearing if I was in school.

Overall, layering with turtlenecks is probably the easiest clothing item to layer with because it’s so obvious the volume and definition it adds to an outfit. I’m a huge advocate for turtlenecks and if you don’t think they’re your style, I recommend trying to recreate these looks and I think you’ll instantly change your mind.

xoxo, megs
