For those of us that live in places where not only are the seasons changing but the temperatures are dropping, it’s time to get realistic. It’s a difficult task to still look cute while staying warm, but it doesn’t have to be! I have always been a lover of layering, that’s very apparent when looking my outfits and I’ve been trying to teach my tips and tricks to you all. So in today’s post, I styled three looks to help you prepare for the chilly winter weather approaching.
1. FLANNEL + SWEATER COMBO
At first glance this outfit may look super cute or super basic (everyone has different taste), but honestly layering any collared shirt underneath a sweater is super in trend for this fall/winter season. All over Pinterest I see people styling their outfits using this layering technique and I love it. I think it adds volume and spice to any boring outfit. I decided to layer a flannel with a light sweater over top and I think this is the perfect fall outfit. However, if it gets colder, layering a chunky sweatshirt overtop all of that will still allow you tasty warm and cute at the same time!
2. SUMMER DRESS TURNED FALL FASHION
This next look is what I like to call ~improvising~ with your old clothes. Not everyone can get new clothing for each season each year, so it’s all about how well you can re-style clothes. I took this spring/summer type midi dress and layered a white turtle neck underneath. This gave it a fall look and ultimately makes it acceptable to wear during this colder days. Booties are also always a go to for fall/winter looks so I paired these white ones to match with the turtleneck.
3. CHRISTMAS CASAUL
The last look for today’s post is this almost monochrome look (I had to add this pop of red to remind us all that Christmas is around the corner!!). For this outfit, I paired the red sweater with black ripped jeans and the black puffer coat in case it gets chilly. The best part about this look is that you can take off or put on the coat and it will still feel complete (plus you’ll be warm!). I also added a black beanie and finished the look with favorite booties ever.
Styling looks for when it starts to get cold can be hard, but I hope you all found some inspiration in today’s blog post! Layering is the key to all of this so if you’re not sure where to start, grab a turtleneck and you’re favorite sweater/sweatshirt and boom, you’ve already learned the basics to layering.
