Layering is my go to way to make winter outfits fashionable, and obviously in order to stay warm it’s essential to layer. I used to think coats ruined my outfit, but I slowly began to realize I actually ended up liking my outfits more when there’s a bunch of layers involved! It can change any boring outfit and amplify the style of a look just by adding a turtleneck or choice of outerwear.
1. CLASSY COWPRINT
For the first look, I started out with a good base: white jeans and a black bodysuit. I decided to keep the black and white color scheme going by adding this fun cow print jacket. Honestly, if it’s warm where you live you could end the outfit right here, accessorize, add some shoes, and you’re done. However, it snowed in Maryland this week, so it was pretty chilly. I went ahead and added another layer, which was my black puffy coat. With the white cow print in the middle of the black coat and top, the printed jacket stood out which I loved. I finished the look with my black booties and sunglasses.
2. CHUNKY COATS
For the next look, my base consisted of black yoga pants and a red turtleneck. Turtlenecks are by far the easiest article of clothing to layer and they always turn out super cute. I added this big Maryland windbreaker type coat overtop. Shoutout to my dad, found this in his closet lol! This outfit kept me super warm and it was so effortlessly cute. If I were in school, this would definitely be something I would throw on for that. To accessorize, I added a black beanie and for shoes I put on my docs.
3. STYLISH SWEATS
For the base of the last outfit, I chose some classic black sweats and a cropped black sweatshirt. I layered a flannel and a zip-up hoodie over that. Again, the red flannel in the middle to catch your eye. This is obviously a more laid back look, something to lounge around the house in, but chill sweats can still be cute!
Layering is the key to success when it comes to winter fashion. If you can layer correctly, you are set for the season. So try mixing and matching your favorite coats and shirts! If you liked today’s blog post on layering and want to see more, let me know by leaving a like on this blog post.
