Ever had an idea that’s sat in your head for so long, but there’s always something holding you back? My idea was this blog, TheMissMegs, and in March of 2020, I finally decided to give it a go and let go off all the excuses. Finishing my sophomore year online left me with a whole lot of boredom, and that gave me a lot of time for the blog. That continued in the summer when obviously, I had tons of time. When I started junior year in September, I was also working at my part time job at serving at a restaurant, and simultaneously working on the blog. I wanted to write a big blog post that not only talks about how I plan on expanding MissMegs, but also a little Q&A so you all can get to know more about me.

THE BASICS
Well, if you’re very new, I guess you have to know my name is Megan Reese! You can call me Meg, Megs, Megan, whatever floats your boat. I’m sixteen, I’ll be seventeen in July. I’m a junior in high school (well currently, that’s virtual school, which is….boring. My interests include but are not limited to: writing, dancing, fashion, and being the one of the funniest people I know! Definitely one of my goals to include some more of my personality in these blog posts.
ZODIAC SIGN? I was born on July 5th, 2004, making me 16 years old and a Cancer! Fun fact, my mom and I share the same birthday. Yes, out of all 365 days in the year, I decided to pop out on my mother’s birthday. I love sharing a birthday with her though, I think it makes it even more special. If you’re into. astrology, my big three are: Cancer Sun, Virgo Moon, and Leo Rising. I now understand why I am so obsessed with myself! I do have a Leo placement!
MBTI PERSONALITY TYPE? Alright I just took the quiz because I totally forgot which one I was and I got ENFP which is the Campaigner/Champion depending on which website you’re on. I’m honestly not shocked, I skimmed through a few websites and I feel like these kinds of personality tests come off way more accurate than astrology (although I am also super interested in that).
ENNEAGRAM NUMBER I got tons of these kinds of questions LOL so I’m getting them out of the way first! I took a quick test a few months back and I got Type 2: The Helper. However, I decided now, to take a few different tests to get a more accurate result and I needed up getting Type 8: The Challenger this time around, with Type 7: The Enthusiast and Type 2 not far behind. I’m not too shocked with these results, as I’d like to think of myself as a determined, confident, and energetic person. My mom is a Type 2 and my dad is a Type 8 so I think I’m a good balance of both.
WHERE DO I SEE MYSELF IN THE FUTURE?
What do you want to major in? What college do you want to go to? Where do you see yourself in five years? Ten years? I’ve touched on this a bit in my overthinking blog post, but the future terrifies me and excites me at the same time. The idea of growing up and moving onto different stages in my life runs through my brain 24/7. My problem is, once I find something I’m interested in, I pursue it to its full extent, but I also change my mind….a lot. So what does a determined yet indecisive person do with the rest of their life? How do they commit to a career that they have to pursue for 30-50 years?
So, how do I see myself progressing with my life? In terms of college, I think I see myself leaving Maryland (if I get into an out of stage college and the price is right of course). Currently some of the schools I have my eye on are UMiami, UGA, Penn State, and Syracuse! Very different schools and honestly next week I’ll probably have a different four schools to tell you about because like I said, I change my mind…a lot. Majors! Well, I know I definitely want to write. No, I don’t really see myself writing news or sports, I avoid those two topics in journalism class regularly lol. The two possibilities swirling through my mind currently are: getting a journalism or general communications degree and working for a fashion magazine (Vogue pls hire me), OR recently I’ve been looking into screenwriting. I think writing for TV/film would be so so fun and such an interesting career! Yes, both the fashion and film industries are difficult to get into and very competitive. However, I’m a very competitive person myself, and I’d like to think if I ended up choosing one of those paths, I would be able to push myself to become successful in either. So yeah, that’s where my head is at currently when it comes to majors/careers.
CHANGES TO THE BLOG
I wanted to throw this in here before some of you got bored and stopped reading SO! Over the last few months I’ve been feeling a bit unfulfilled…unsatisfied maybe? I started this blog because I wanted to fuel my passion, writing. I also loved fashion so I figured, why not combine the two? Well, after almost a year of doing this, I realized that as much as I love fashion, I hate doing the same thing over and over again. I’ve always been this way, I try something, love it (or hate it), and then I move on. Writing as always sticked though, so I figured I could continue using this platform to write, I would just expand what I write about. Instead of posting a styling blog post twice a week, my goal is to write more about different topics. Whether that’s advice, music or film, or even just a random idea that sparked into my brain, I want to write about anything and everything.
So, if you found me because you like my fashion posts, don’t worry! I will still be writing those, because fashion is still a big part of my life and I love it. I just want to put out quality content without it feeling like a chore, and lately that’s what it’s felt like. I tried to keep up with posting twice a week, but over the last few months, this feeling of unsatisfaction has built up. I kept suppressing this feeling, thinking it was just me being unmotivated or not working hard enough. Although consistency is important when running a blog, so is quality content. So, my solution is this: One blog post a week, on MONDAY’S! Yes, Monday. The day everyone dreads. Personally, I’ve grown to love Monday’s and I’ll get into that on a Instagram story segment. I want to post more freely throughout the week on my Instagram whether that be a post, a story, or even going live! This may or may not excite you, but I’m totally stoked to try something new. I’ve never been one to do the same thing for a long period of time, I get bored and have to switch some things up in order to stay interested. So, this is me trying to switch it up.
FAVORITES
FAV ARTIST/SONG/ALBUM? Favorite Artist is currently a tie between Taylor Swift and Harry Styles (my musically divorced parents aw). My favorite song is Vienna by Billy Joel (The Spins by Mac Miller is a close second). My favorite album? Ugh. Why choose only one? Currently it’s Lorde’s Melodrama. I am obsessed. Sure, my music taste may or may not impress you, but I always like to say, if it’s popular, it’s probably for a reason.
FAV FOOD? Orange chicken, but specifically the dish they make at the restaurant I work at. Phenomenal
FAV TV SHOWS/MOVIES? A movie I could watch every day for the rest of my life and never get bored? A tie between 10 Things I Hate About You and Crazy Rich Asians. Love, Rosie is also up there for sure. Currently, the two shows I’m binging are American Horror Story or Big Little Lies. However, my all time favorite show is One Tree Hill.
FAV SEASON? I’ll never choose between summer and fall. Summer is the best because I have a summer birthday, and well…it’s summer. Fall is amazing because personally I’m a huge fan of the beginning of a school year and football season is so exciting in my hometown.
FAV CELEBRITY? Sophia asked me this knowing I was going to say Harry Styles but currently he is tied with Jennifer Lawrence. I’ve been binge watching her interviews, she is HILARIOUS.
MORE FUN QUESTIONS! YAY!
Q: If you were a Kardashian/Jenner, who would you be? A. First of all, Macey, if you’re reading this, thank you for this wonderful question. I wish I could tell you I was Kendall, because I love her, but I feel like I lean more towards Khloe. I’m definitely the funniest person in my own family (biased? sure. still true? yes!), which Khloe can relate to, as she is the funniest Kardashian. Anyways, I probably possess the confidence and borderline god complex that all the sisters have to some extent. Hm, okay it seems as though I cannot give a straight answer to this question. Alright fine, let’s say I’d be a mix of Khloe and Kendall. There.
Q. Who is your biggest “influencer”/blogger inspiration? A. For blogging purposes, of course McKenzie Morgan, StyledByMckenz, my inspiration and mentor. McKenzie has been such a big help to my blog and she’s just such an amazing person to look up to. Now, in terms of writing and “influencer” inspiration, Indy Blue is my ICON!!! Her blog is one of my favs, and I just love the way she writes, she’s got such a way with words. She’s the best kind of influencer, she influences her audience to go out and be the best versions of themselves and I aspire to do the same for my readers.
Q. Five things you couldn’t live without? A. I’d probably be lying if I said I could live without my phone. Listen, when you grow up with all this technology at your fingertips, you don’t really know how to do much without it. Would I survive without my phone? Yes. Would I like to live without a phone? Not preferably. SO! Five things I’d (prefer) not to live without: 1. Music (specifically Taylor Swift’s discography) 2. Checkers (the restaurant. If you’ve never been I would recommend you drop everything and go get the chicken bite box) 3. Harry Styles (yes, we are not friends- yet. however him just existing is enough for me) 4. I should probably put friends in here right? Family? 5. My phone.
WRAPPING IT UP
So, if you’ve read all the way to here, I always feel the need to thank you. Thanks for spending a few minutes of your day with me. Today, you read a whole lot about me, which probably isn’t the most interesting thing. In the future, you’ll be seeing posts about self doubt, growing up, how music impacts our lives, and so may more topics that spark my interest. Topics that leave me wanting to write pages and pages that you all will read and leave my blog with a new point of view. My whole goal for this blog is for my readers to gain something new; new knowledge, new advice, new fashion tips, whatever is, I just hope you all leave knowing you didn’t waste your time reading.
In reality, nothing is really changing, I’m just posting a blog post once a week instead of twice. However, I will be much more active on my Instagram. I’m probably titling this blog post “A New Miss Megs” for the dramatics and excitement. Anyways, thank you for reading and I can’t wait to see these small changes leave a big impact.
xoxo, megs
