GRAMMYS FASHION 2021

The GRAMMYs showcase very talented artists (and snub many), however award shows also tend to give us phenomenal red carpet looks. At this years GRAMMY awards, we also got to see some stellar live performances with some even more amazing looks. Harry Styles opening and wearing a leather suit and a green boa…iconic. Dua Lipa’s outfit changes…she doesn’t miss. Megan Thee Stallion… absolutely killed it. So, I figured in today’s blog post I would review some looks from the night to combine my love for music and fashion.

  1. MEGAN THEE STALLION

Starting off strong, 3x GRAMMY WINNER, Megan Thee Stallion. When she walked onto the red carpet Sunday night my jaw dropped. I’m completely obsessed with this bright orange color, she now owns it. The jewelry is so classy and chic, allowing the dress to be spotlighted.

Her performance look blew me away. When she came onto the stage singing “Body” in this look, I knew she was going to kill it. All of her looks, red carpet and performance, was so classy yet so fun.

2. DUA LIPA

WOW. If I could afford Versace, her red carpet look would already be in my cart. I am seriously obsessed with it, Dua Lipa clearly never misses. It was so GRAMMYs appropriate, red carpet chic with so much personality.

Her preformance? Fantastic. Not only were her outfit changes perfect but she is an incredible performer. The pop vocal album category was stacked but she totally deserved that win for Future Nostalgia.

3. TAYLOR SWIFT

One of the most anticipated performances, Miss Taylor Swift. I’ll start with her red carpet look, which is very much Folklore but with much more color. It screams Taylor in my opinion. I love how this was a mini dress instead of a long gown, I think it’s the perfect length.

Taylor’s performance was incredible. With how the night was going, I wasn’t sure how many songs to expect, and when she started with “cardigan”, I was afraid that was going to be it. However, the minute my friends and I heard “august”, we almost cried. Then she slipped “willow” in there. More tears. Such an amazing performance. Oh, I totally forgot I was reviewing her look for a second there, that was phenomenal as well.

5. CHLOE X HALLE

Ugh, this duo. Beautiful. Not only do I love their album Ungodly Hour and believe they truly got snubbed, their GRAMMY looks solidified my love for them. I love how similar they are with color and material, yet different in overall style. A true representation of how they work so well together, with fashion and music.

6. HARRY STYLES

Not going to lie, I never thought Harry’s boa would be so controversial. I guess the more I look at it, the more I notice that everyone has different tastes in fashion. I mean have you ever seen a Gucci runway? They’ll layer on different colors, materials, and patterns and create something so unique you end up loving it. Personally, I really liked it. Not at all what I was expecting for his GRAMMY red carpet look, but I was pleasantly surprised.

The performance look sure did get Twitter going. I mean, yeah…the leather suit with no shirt…yeah, I get it. Giving me very much new era vibes, possibly a rock era? Honestly, I was never a huge “Watermelon Sugar” fan prior to this preformance, I thought the song was too overplayed. However, after? After that, I’m sold. I’ll never give that song slander again.

Overall, I’ve always thought Harry could pull anything off, so the different colored boas throughout the night get a yes from me.

7. LIZZO

LIZZO! I knew she would look amazing, I absolutely knew it. These two looks scream Disney princess to me, however she looks like a queen. I’m especially loving the pretty pastel colors on these dresses. My favorite out of the two of them has got to be the second, longer pink pastel gown. She looks so stunning, and I love the hair clips that match. I love watching her in whatever she’s doing, whether it’s singing or just presenting an award in the most Lizzo way ever. I really just want to be friends with her to be honest.

8. INGRID ANDRESS

I’ll be honest, before I saw her on the red carpet, I didn’t know who Ingrid Andress was. However, she was nominated for not one, but three GRAMMY awards, including Best New Artist. When she did walk on the red carpet, my jaw dropped for a second time. This monochromatic suited look was absolutely fire. I think this look was so beautifully simple yet it catches your eye which is the perfect balance. I’ll definitely be taking a listen to her album Lady Like now.

9. DOJA CAT

When I first saw Doja Cat strut onto the red carpet, I wasn’t a huge fan of the look. I liked both the top and the bottom separately but I wasn’t sure how I felt about them together. However, the more I look at it, the more I realize that this was something so out of the box, that it might just work. I loved that she took a risk and honestly those feathers are kinda serving.

Doja Cat’s performance of “Say So” was quite literally unworldly in the best way possible. I didn’t realize she could do yet another version of the song yet she pulled this futuristic version out and did not come to play. I’m so disappointed she didn’t walk out with a GRAMMY in her hands, but I guarantee she is going to come back even stronger with more hits.

Although the GRAMMYs definitely need to re-evaluate themselves, I still wanted to look on the brighter side of things and congratulate the women that dominated this year. From Megan winning best rap performance and rap song to Taylor winning album of the year (for the third time), the women of music showed up. I hope you enjoyed this award show fashion review and hopefully there will be more to do soon! *Praying for a Met Gala 2021*

xoxo, megs
