MARCH FAVS + RECAP

March March March, a month I normally dread. For me, March never brought anything special, and this year it was just a reminder that we’ve been in this pandemic for a year. However, I think lately I’ve been trying to soak in each day as it is, even if it’s in a month I don’t particularly love. This month contained a lot of vinyl collecting, stressing about my driver’s test and SAT coming next month, and creating new outfits to post on my stories. Without further ado, here is what was on the blog this month.

THIS MONTH ON MISSMEGS

This month on the blog I started out with an advice post all about self-love and self-doubt. I absolutely loved writing about this topic because it hits so close to home. Of course, I can try my best to give advice to you all, but sometimes I’m still struggling with the said topic myself, so I’m almost giving myself advice. The GRAMMYs were also this month so I decided to cover some GRAMMYs fashion for you all! As much as I love writing about my own looks, it is really fun to discuss what other people are wearing, especially to award shows because celebs tend to bring it! I’d love to cover more of those so if you liked that blog post, let me know. Lastly, I finally went back to my roots and published a fashion blog post for the first time in what felt like forever. I loved styling the looks for it and overall just had so much fun creating the post for you all. So, you can definitely expect more this month, especially with the warm weather approaching.

TV SHOWS/MOVIES

I’m still watching both Gilmore Girls and American Horror Story here and there, however, I’ve also started the new (and last) season of Keeping Up With The Kardashians. Yes, I love reality TV, what can I say. As far as movies go, I watched a bunch this month, but these were the three that stood out the most to me. Fight Club directed by David Fincher had been on my watchlist for so so long, and finally, my friends and I sat down to watch it. I thought the movie was fantastic and I loved the plot, however, I think I was overall underwhelmed. Maybe I was expecting more? Maybe the movie was too hyped up? Not quite sure, but the film scored a 3.5/5 from me. Midsommar directed by Ari Aster was a film I was scared to watch alone, but I did, and again…dare I say underwhelmed? Maybe I was expecting it to be scarier? I mean for sure, this film was very disturbing, but it was almost predictable? There were parts that were dragged on so much that I just knew what to expect next. Even though the plot may not have hit for me, the acting was superb and the cinematography was fantastic, so no complaints there. This film scored a 3/5 from me. Lastly, The Truman Show directed by Peter Weir. I LOVED this movie. I thought the plot was so interesting and I actually liked how we knew from the beginning that Truman was being filmed rather than it being a huge plot twist. I gave this movie a 4/5. If you’re interested in seeing other movies I’ve rated and reviewed, make sure to follow me on Letterboxd @megreese.

BOOKS/MUSIC

This month, I read The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky. This book was a breeze to read, however there were some points where I caught myself pushing myself to read more instead of the book doing that on its own. I will say that this is a coming-of-age novel you need to read, it’s fantastic. I love that it’s in a diary like format where Charlie is writing letters to you, and you get to see each character develop from Charlie’s perspective. I did a full review on my Instagram stories @themissmegs if you want to go check it out and see more book reviews in the future!

Once I finished Perks, I started reading Crazy Rich Asians, another novel that was turned into a movie, and one that happens to be a favorite movie of mine. I’m about 150 pages in, and so far I love it. I’ll give a full review once I’m finished.

Here is the link for this month’s Spotify playlist if you’re interested: MARCH 21

I’ve been listening to Taylor Swift’s entire discography (as usual), Levitating by Dua Lipa has been on NONSTOP, and I created a playlist called smile and boogie which as encouraged me to start each day with happy tunes.

LOOKING INTO APRIL

Although April may bring rainy days, that also may mean a little bit of a calm before the beautiful spring and summer full of long, eventful days. I plan on making the most of the warm weather, so maybe April means calming down and getting a little bit of peace before that. That’s just a prediction though, I may end up packing up my schedule with this and that, but honestly that depends on if I get my license tomorrow. Hopefully I’ll be able to report back tomorrow that I passed…lol.

I hope you all enjoyed this months recap and favorites. Wishing everyone an amazing April!

xoxo, megs
