July came and went a little too fast. I am in shock that my first day of senior year begins in less than a month now. Even though it’s summer, it feels as though my schedule just got more jam-packed. I work five days a week, which I love because now I don’t feel as bad buying new records and other miscellaneous items that I probably don’t need. I’m starting to think about senior year and after that. If I’m being honest, I’m super stressed. I’m trying to do all of the things I need to do to be prepared and successful in this next stage of my life, but simultaneously, I’m trying to enjoy this stage of life. This “high school” chapter is coming to a close as sad as it is to say. A year from now, I’ll be heading off to college and beginning a new chapter, so this summer I’ve really been trying to soak up the small-town life as much as possible.
With that being said, because of the crazy summer schedule, it feels as though I’m neglecting the blog. I’m staying pretty active on Instagram despite the blog post shortage, but I promise there is content. I have all of the photos and the outfits, just not the time to write the posts. It makes me sad because this blog means so much to me. It’s ignited a passion in me that nothing else has. Nothing else that I’ve done has felt like it was going to stick, until this. So, I’m trying my best to fit everything into the day. However, I also need to just take it day by day.
ON THE BLOG THIS MONTH
This month on the blog, I uploaded a birthday advice post and a summer fashion essentials post. Both posts I was very proud of, for different reasons. If you’d like to read them, I will link them below.
I’ve also been quite the tik-toker this month if I do say so myself. I’ve been uploading a ton to my Tik Tok account (@themissmegs). Mostly because they’re so convenient. I can style outfits, record, edit, and post the video all in an hour or so. However, they also make me feel so creative. I’ve been styling looks for late-night talk shows, movies, and so much more. Hopefully, I can continue making them in the future as well.
MOVIES/TV
I’ve been binging Outer Banks season two…obviously. I’m actually shocked at how much I enjoy it so far. I was one of the first watchers of the first season (I will brag about how I showed it to my friends before it blew up on TikTok…sorry it’s my superiority complex talking). They’ve thickened up the plot a lot and you can tell how much the actors have improved since the first season.
I also started watching Manifest, which so far is eh. I don’t hate it, the plot is so interesting, I just wonder where they are going to go with it. I’m almost done with the first season so I’m still just touching the water, but I’ve heard nothing but good reviews.
In terms of movies, I’ve continued my Marvel movie marathon. Right now I’m on Black Panther, which I am super excited for. When it first came out I wasn’t interested in the Marvel universe so I never watched it, but everyone raved about it.
I watched Juno and Sex and the City as well this month. Loved Juno, we definitely would be best friends in another life strictly because of our humor. Wasn’t jumping up and down about Sex and the City. I was very surprised because I was obsessed with the TV show with Anna-Sophia Robb about teen Carrie Bradshaw. I’m not sure why I didn’t like it. Maybe it was how excruciatingly long it was (2 and a half hours…yeah). Maybe it was because I almost stopped watching after I saw Carrie ruin that beautiful Vivienne Westwood wedding gown with blue feathers sticking out of her head. Maybe it was that.
BOOKS/MUSIC
I definitely slacked off in the book department this month, I really only just started reading Malibu Rising by Taylor Jenkins Reid. I’m not far enough into the plot yet to give you a good idea of the book, but I’ll make sure to review it on my Instagram stories once I finish.

AUGUST (TAYLOR SWIFT’S MONTH)
I am both incredibly excited and stressed for August. This week, I have my first concert since the pandemic. I’m seeing The Backseat Lovers in a small venue in DC with some friends, and I’m stoked. With so many concerts booked for the fall, I’m thinking about writing concert reviews on the blog.
School starts at the end of the month, my senior year….like I said, excited and stressed. It just feels like there is so much to do before it starts in the fall. I’m trying to balance work and play, but hopefully, in a few months the storm will calm and I’ll be able to fully re-emerge myself into the blog.
For those who still read my blog posts, I’ll always be so grateful for you. Happy August.
xoxo, megs
