AUGUST FAVS + RECAP

August slipped away into a moment in time. That it did Taylor, that it did.

I waited so long to post this monthly favorites/recap because I was just so sad to see August slip away. August was refreshing. August was kind. August was a moment I wanted to hold onto forever.

August was also full of color. In my life and my clothes. I tend to dress in beiges and browns, but this month I tried my best to get in as much color as possible. In the first photo, you’ll see my best friend Caroline and I. The day we took this picture was a really good day. Caroline, Allie (our other musketeer), and I had gone to see Black Widow in theaters. When we walked into the theater, it was empty. It happened to stay that way too. It was awesome! I normally hate when people talk during movies, but this was different. Being in a movie theater with your best friends (who happen to be hilarious), it was impossible to hate the commentary going back and forth between us. Anyway, I just know that’ll be a day my mind will be going back to, because it was a good day. A day where I forgot about responsibilities. A day where I wasn’t worried about tomorrow, I was just focused on today.

In the second picture, you’ll see an outfit I am very proud of. I wore it North Carolina on my last trip of the summer. I visited Charlotte with my friends, and on this day we got lunch, took some pictures, and went to a record store. I am currently obsessed with cowboy boots and  I’m praying that they don’t go “out of style” in two weeks like every other micro-trend.

The last picture makes me smile with tears in my eyes. Senior? No way. I know everyone says time goes by fast in high school, but it flew for me. I think the pandemic has a lot to do with that though. Anyways, senior year has brought a lot of mixed emotions into play, and my first day of school was a day filled with mixed feelings. I was so happy to see everyone and finally be back to in-person. However, I also felt the sadness creep up on me fast.

It definitely was not because I listened to “Long Live” on the way to school. Definitely not that.

I am still very excited for everything this year as to offer, and I’m ready to make the best of it.

ON THE BLOG THIS MONTH

I started the month with another post in the STYLE ME SERIES! This post featured my friend Annie. I posted an advice post about being yourself. I absolutely love this post. I dumped a lot of my thoughts and feelings into this one and I was so happy with the respons this post got. All I want is for people to feel seen with my words and hopefully gain something from reading my posts. I finished the month with a fashion post where I styled dressier looks. These outfits were so chic and I felt so confident in each of them.

If you haven’t read any of these posts, I highly recommend checking them out.

MOVIES/TV

Some of the movies I watched this month that stuck out were Zodiac directed by David Fincher and Ocean’s Eleven directed by Steven Soderbergh.

As far as TV goes, I finished the new Gossip Girl. It got somewhat better than it was in the beginning, but I’m still not a big fan. This is mostly because I hate when teen shows/movies feel unrealistic. And no, I am not talking about the wealth/partying aspect of it (I loved the original GG). I am more so talking about how the characters speak/act/look. Maybe it’s just me being picky but I almost wish teen show writers would consult an actual teenager in that environment when writing the script. Or at least cast people younger than thirty to play teenagers.

I’m essentially watching the show for the fashion and for the unrealistic drama. So good job new Gossip Girl for keeping me hooked.

BOOKS/MUSIC

In the July recap, I mentioned that I started Malibu Rising by Taylor Jenkins Reid and that I would let you know what I thought of it. I may have lied. I was handed Beach Read by Emily Henry (a friend of mine had it), so I had to read it. I’m not finished yet but so far I really enjoy the plot.

LOOKING INTO SEPTEMBER

I also said in the July recap that I was attending a concert in August (I lied). Well, unfortunately it got postponed. However, I did go to my first concert since the pandemic, and it was INSANE!!!! I’ll cover it in the September recap (since it was in September) and possibly in a concert review? I’m going to three more concerts this month, so I’m definitely considering starting concert reviews.

This month is going to be crazy. Concerts. College Applications. Football games. Homecoming. A lot of stuff happening. I’ll try my best to post this month on the blog, but I may be more active on Instagram, so go follow! @themissmegs

xoxo, megs
