I’ve been wanting to put together some one-colored outfits for awhile now and I finally decided to splurge my closet and put some fun pieces together. For today’s post, I used green, black, gray, and pink for the basis of each outfit.
GREEN
This was probably my favorite outfit, I was obsessed with this greenish blue monochrome piece and it was totally my style. I’ve always loved the pants especially with the matching big belt with it. For the top half of the piece, I used a cropped green lingerie top that I got at the thrift store. I wasn’t really sure what to do with the top since it’s one of those controversial trends to wear lingerie as outerwear, so when I saw this resembled the color of my pants, I knew I could make this a monochrome piece. I also threw on a green and black flannel to pull it all together, which I’m pretty sure I picked up at Walmart years ago, lol. I didn’t have any green shoes unfortunately, so I just ended up pairing some white chucks with this look.
BLACK
I felt WAYYY too powerful in this look, wow. It’s definitely the black booties that I’m totally obsessed with. These booties are from DSW by the brand Candie’s. I love how this black monochrome outfit can be dressed down with some black chunky sneakers, but you can also dress it up with black heels or booties like I did. These black jean shorts are definitely going to be my go to jeans for this summer, from the brand DNKY. For the top I wore a basic black bodysuit and added a black wrap top from Shein.
GRAY
Ah yes, the ultimately groutfit. This is what I like to call my comfy but still fashionista worthy look. Something I’ll definitely be rocking in quarantine so I still feel like I’ve got some style left in me. I took some classic gray sweats and added a cute gray crop top with some silver jewelry and my white chunky boots. What I liked most about this outfit though is that because of how basic the basis is (gray sweats and a crop top), you can be as creative as you want by adding accessories, playing with different hairstyles, and much more.
PINK
Another one of my favorites for sure! Even though the pink bodysuit was a darker shade of pink, I loved how the colors clashed and I think it worked. This is another outfit that can be dressed up or down with the shoes you pick, in my case I dressed it down with some light pink vans. The pastel pink tassel skirt was featured in my Spring Trends post a few weeks ago, you can find that adorable skirt on Shein! This outfit is perfect for spring/summer time and even though it’s one-colored look, I love how the different shades look together.
Out of all the looks, I think my favorites were the green and pink. This was honestly a surprise for me, normally my go to outfits consist of blacks, grays, and whites. I wasn’t even sure if I was going to like the way the colored pieces were going to turn out. However, when I tried them on, I was instantly drawn to how the different shades clashed and made such a unique look. Separate, some of the tops and bottoms were pretty basic, but once you put them together it was an outfit your eyes were just drawn to. So, I’ve found a special place in my heart for monochrome fashion. I hope you all do to after reading this post and start splurging your closet making some fun looks of your own.
xoxo, megs
