Fall Basics I’m Wearing Regardless Of Trends

Building a fashionable wardrobe without breaking the bank can be a very difficult task, especially when each season it becomes harder and harder to stand out. Celebrities start trends that us regular people try to recreate within our budget and sometimes it’s just too hard. In today’s post, I’m sharing a bunch of my all time favorite fall items that you NEED to add to your wardrobe, and you probably won’t need to drop that much cash for it!

1. SWEATER WEATHER OUTFIT

For outfit number one I started to thing about color schemes for the fall. Obviously the first colors you think of are oranges, yellows, and browns, but I think off-white/cream is a really pretty fall color. So, I styled this cream monochrome colored outfit using these off-white jeans from Elizabeth and James and a cream cardigan. The best part about those jeans was the price, only 15 bucks when I grabbed them in the store and I found them online for 20! Denim can be tricky because of how expensive it normally is but if you know where to look, you’ll be set for this fall season.

Now that we’ve covered the basics this outfit contains (white denim & cardigans) let’s complete the outfit with some accessories! I most definitely will recommend gold statement hoops for any season, but fall is one I almost say is a requirement. Obviously I can’t force you to buy a pair but I promise you that they will pull any outfit from a 7 to a 10. I was gifted a stellar pair from Shop Hailey Kaae, one of my favorite online boutiques! Use my code “megan10” when ordering your adorable pair of hoops or anything else from her website. I also added this vintage purse I found in my mom’s closet lol, I’m obsessed with it, and shoulder bags are a MUST for your fall wardrobe.

2. OVERALLS FOR THE WIN

For the next look, the main focus is the yellow overall dress because it grasps your attention right away. However, if you look closely, there are a few other fall basics in this outfit you should be paying attention to. Now I’ll start with the obvious, the overall dress. I chose to highlight this for many reasons, again going for a fall color scheme and secondly because although overalls are not a huge trend at the moment, I think they are perfect for a day out picking pumpkins or just drinking a latte at a cute coffee shop. I decided to add a plaid cropped tank underneath to add a little something to this outfit and make it less “basic”. I think just adding that tank did so much to the outfit as a whole, and plaid is always in trend for the fall.

To accessorize, I went with a statement necklace and went with dainty earrings to instead spotlight this edgy lightning bolt necklace from Shop Hailey Kaae. I also added a classic black shoulder bag to match with the black in the plaid tank and in my shoes. I will repeat it in every post, but you all know accessorizing adds so much more to your outfit even if it’s just jeans and a t-shirt!

3. EDGY LACE

Most of you know I love to experiment with edgier looks and this is one of them! Fall gives me very soft sweet vibes and a lot of my outfits this season will represent that. However, I had to include at least one edgy look for this blog post. I paired black ripped jeans with a pink lace top (lace/silk tops are very trendy!), which is also from Shop Hailey Kaae lol!

I wore the same statement necklace I wore in the overall outfit but I changed out my fake docs for my absolute FAVORITE pair of booties, these black DSW heel boots. I literally don’t know what I’m going to do when I grow out of these because they were originally my moms and I can’t repurchase them because I’m not sure what they’re called on the DSW website! Well, that just means I will be wearing them A LOT this fall, yay!

4. SUMMER TRENDS IN THE FALL

The final outfit for this blog post was right up my alley, and yes I understand cheetah biker shorts don’t scream fall, but I definitely think a classic black pair would be a necessity for this season, especially while us Marylanders are still experiencing 70 degrees and sunny weather. I also added this MTV graphic long sleeve I picked up on my last Kohl’s trip because I realized I don’t really own any casual long sleeves to wear with jeans or in this case, biker shorts. I LOVED how this outfit turned out and I can tell you right now, your gonna want biker shorts and graphic long sleeves in your wardrobe this fall.

To wrap up I wanted to talk a little bit about fall footwear! As you can see, I wore three different pairs of shoes in today’s post. To be honest, those are probably the only pairs of shoes I’ll be wearing this season! You don’t need a million pairs of shoes to become fashionable, you just need to know which pair goes with each of your outfits. I have my white chunky sneakers with light blue trim that pretty much go with every casual outfit I have. I also have my fake white docs that work with a wide variety of outfits, and finally my black booties. I normally pair those with outfits I need to dress up for a nice dinner or just to feel chic!

This blog post was supposed to go up on Monday but I had circumstances that prevented that, but I wanted to thank you if you’ve read this far. I’m extremely pleased with how these outfits and the entire blog post came out and I hope you enjoyed reading. If you want to show some extra love, like/comment and share this post with your friends or head over to my instagram and do the same if you’re feeling generous. I love you all!

xoxo, megs
