With August nearing and the last month of summer approaching, I figured now would be a wonderful time to introduce my summer fashion essentials.

Okay actually, I’ve been sitting on these pictures for a while, I’ve just been so busy. So, instead of getting summer essentials in June while you’re placing your online shopping orders, you’re getting them now. Get excited! 

In the summer, it can get difficult to create new and exciting outfits without the help of layering. Mixing and matching the same jeans and tops can be exhausting, but I use a few fashion essentials to make it easier. 

1. OVERALLS

I don’t care if it’s overall shorts, pants, or a dress, but you need overalls in your closet. Get two pairs if you must! Overalls are a must. Especially for these warmer months. They’re the perfect summer statement piece, yet still remain a casual basic. They add so much to an outfit yet so little. I like to call them my most humble outfit maker because they really do make my outfit without being too overwhelming.

The reason overalls are so great is because they match with just about everything. With my look, I paired them with a bright yellow wrap top. See how simple that was? All it took was a fun top and overalls to elevate my summer style. They’re also great because you can find them just about anywhere. Thrift stores, TJ Maxx, Target, Urban, or anywhere else you shop. Again…overalls…are a must. Buy them. Now! (yawn what a long, hard day of being an influencer).

2. PATCHWORK DENIM

Patchwork denim has been in and out for the last few months (maybe longer…I should probably be more educated about fashion trends). However, I didn’t give in until recently, and I am so glad I did. Sometimes I get bored of spicing up outfits with colorful tops (and I hate wearing the same pair of denim shorts every day). So the answer to my problem is looking for more statement bottoms. Patchwork denim is definitely my newest go-to when looking for statement pants.

Since I was going bold for the pants, I kept it simple for the top. I wanted to showcase the pants as much as possible, so I wore a white bra top. A tight, white top was perfect because the jeans were looser and more colorful.

3. LITTLE BLACK DRESS

Clearly, the little black dress never goes out of style (during any season), but the summer little black dress gets a little more complicated. You can’t really elevate it using layers and coats, but this forces you to get a little more creative. Search for a more exciting design! I found this towel material little black dress at H&M and I’ve worn it so many times this summer. I love the cutout and fit of the dress, but I also love that it doesn’t need layers to shine. It’s already the perfect little black dress for summer. I did however try to spice it up just a bit with colorful sneakers.
