STYLE ME SERIES – SOPHIA

Styling others is one of my many passions. When a friend texts me to help them plan an outfit for an outing, or ask what would go best with a red blazer, I am honored. I started this little series last summer and it’s one of my favorites posts to write. I get to see my friends’ personal style and show them how to enhance it. You definitely don’t need a whole new wardrobe to produce stylish looks. Every piece in your closet has the potential to be styled, and styled well.

Today, well….in August, I styled my very good friend Sophia. My deepest apologies to Sophia for just now getting to writing this, but in my eyes now is the perfect time. We are in the part of winter I don’t particularly enjoy. The holidays are past us, and now I’m just impatiently waiting for Spring. These looks remind me of warm weather and just how fast August slipped away. So, I present to you, four looks for Sophia styled by me.

1. PATTERNED PERFECTION

The first thing I noticed in Sophia’s closet were these incredible blue patterned pants. I will do anything to swap out classic denim for a fun pant whenever I can, so I knew I had to style these. I paired the pants with this royal blue sweater tank. I love how sleek and sophisticated this outfit looks, while still letting Sophia’s personality shine through the pants.

To keep the focus on the pants, we accessorized minimally, adding pearl studs and a pearl necklace. For shoes, we kept it casual, matching the white pearls with white sneakers. The best part about this look is she can always dress it up by adding heels, or make it winter weather appropriate by adding a layer underneath the sweater tank and boots.

2. WE’RE NOT TALKING LATELY

Of course the name for this cherry look had to come from the song. I am obsessed with this dress, truly. Sophia had found it while thrifting, and she really wanted to style it. So, I grabbed white chucks and had her throw them on with the dress. I love the sneakers and dress combo, and to be honest, the dress is so fun it doesn’t need much styling to create a look. We finished by putting a white headband in her hair, and voilà!

3. FLORAL & LEATHER

If you read my style me series post for Andrea, you know I absolutely love pairing leather with something very light and summery. I adore the contrast and just how well they come together. For Sophia’s look, I paired the leather jacket with a floral midi skirt and a green lace top.

For shoes, we added these chunky black boots to match the jacket. This look is so cohesive because everything matches. There is green in the skirt to match the top, and the black shoes and black jacket are spaced out just enough that it looks very put together. To finish the look, we decided on gold jewelry. She has on a gold dainty necklace and chain earrings.

4. CLASSIC SUMMER UNIFORM

We kept it casual and classic for this last look, keeping in mind that over the summer there’s a few outfit combinations we stick to. This combo is a tank and low waisted pants. Over the warm summer, it’s hard to keep outfits exciting without layering, so I always say just add patterns and colors. The pants are this beautiful moss green color, and the dainty lace top has a floral design I love.

Up close, you can also see that there is some green in the top, which to me is super satisfying because it matches with the pants. Because the look was a little simple, we stepped it up with some statement earrings.

I had a blast going through Sophia’s wardrobe on this August day. I definitely would love to style someone in these cold months, there is so much potential with the layering.

xoxo, megs
